i-fax.com's OCR service supports:

With i-fax.com's Universal Document Tag™ Barcode +OCR service, your paper documents are converted into document images and tagged with the text content of the document image.

How Does it Work?

  1. An end user faxes or scans a document to i-fax.com's server. The document either contains i-fax.com's Barcode or is accompanied by a Cover Page containing i-fax.com's Barcode.

  2. i-fax.com's Barcode +OCR service reads the barcode and converts the text within the document image into a text file. Both the Barcode Value and the OCR Text are stored within the Universal Document Tag™. We call the text file the "OCR Text" and the value contained within the barcode the "Barcode Value".

  3. i-fax.com transmits the Document Image and the Universal Document Tag™ to your website or webserver.

The Universal Document Tag™ allows you to link the OCR Text and the Barcode Value to the Document Image, giving your web applications the ability to:

  1. Link Document Images to records in your web database using the Barcode Value.

  2. Search for Document Images in your web database based on the Barcode Value and the OCR Text.

  3. Index documents based on the Barcode Value and the OCR Text.

Using i-fax.com free Search Tool, you can search the text inside the Universal Document Tag™ to locate document images containing specific search terms. i-fax.com search tool is optimized to allow you to retrieve document images when the OCR Text is misspelled.
